Postoperative Methods, Self–Support After Surgery

Description

Postoperative methods refer to the steps patients must take after they have a surgical procedure. Properly following these protocols leads to minimized pain, and quicker recovery times.
Note: Follow these recommendations for as long as your doctor requires. This may be several weeks, many months, or they may become a permanent part of your routine.

Natural Cures

Diet plan: Initially, concentrate on eating light organic foods, such as sauces, juices, broths, pureed vegetables and fruits. As your recuperation progresses, begin consuming an organic, whole-foods diet with plenty of clean, organic vegetables. Avoid all sugars, processed carbohydrates, alcohol, and soda. In addition, consume plenty of fresh, filtered water and try to drink one glass of fresh vegetable juice each day.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients are typically recommended after all surgical procedures: A daily high-potency multivitamin/mineral which contains ascorbic acid, bioflavonoids, vitamin B complex, vitamin E, beta carotene, magnesium, potassium, zinc, essential fatty acids, and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Also, add free-form proteins, glutamine, and extra vitamin B6. If you have trouble healing, consider proteolytic enzymes between meals. Chromium and selenium can also be helpful.

To lessen the swelling caused by surgery, take protease or bromelain and omega-3 essential fatty acids (fish as well as flaxseed natural oils). Vitamin E can be used topically postoperatively by putting a teaspoon onto the skin near the incision once a day.

If antibiotics are used before or after surgery, consider acidophilus to restore beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract.

Flower Essences: Save Remedy

Herbs: Combine equal parts Siberian ginseng, ginkgo, milk thistle, and hawthorn tinctures and consume a 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture three times per day for several weeks following surgery. Aloe vera gel can also be used topically.

Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the process of applying water, ice, steam and alternating cold and hot temperatures to restore health. Treatments include total body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation, and the application of warm and cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating an array of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a personal-treatment program. Many professionals including naturopathic physicians, physical therapists and day spas use Hydrotherapy as part of their treatment routines. We suggest trying several at home hydrotherapy remedies. Please seek the advice of an alternative healthcare practitioner prior to undergoing these treatments to ensure they are right for you.

*Purified water is essential in any Hydrotherapy remedy. Remedies involving purifying bath water offer clear instructions and remedies.
