Organic Cures
Be aware: In general, follow these suggestions for several weeks prior to surgery, especially if your surgery requires local anesthesia.
Diet plan: Eat an organic, whole foods diet with plenty of fresh, natural vegetables. Avoid all sugar, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, soda, and processed foods. In addition, drink plenty of pure, filtered water and consume a minimum of one glass of fresh vegetable juice every day.
Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy to deal with associated anxiety and stress.
Herbal treatments: The following herbal treatments can be helpful: Pycnogenol, yellowdock, mustard greens, and turnip greens.
Homeopathy: Arnica is an excellent homeopathic remedy to prepare your body for surgery.
Dietary Supplementation: Two weeks before surgery, start building up your immune system by taking a daily higher-strength multivitamin/mineral supplement. Ensure you are consuming ascorbic acid, bioflavonoids, vitamin B complex complex, vitamin E, beta carotene, magnesium, blood potassium, zinc, essential fatty acids, and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Consult your doctor about taking enzymes to reduce swelling before and after surgery.
Alternative Expert Care
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an excellent way to prepare your body for surgical treatment. Professional athletes use this method to prepare their bodies for hard hits and excessive wear. Hypnotherapy and Guided Imagery have also proven to be useful when preparing for surgery. (See Glossary for descriptions of these alternative treatments.)
